Conference Description:

Are you responsible for payroll or employer tax withholding compliance? Or maybe you were recently hired or promoted into the payroll department. During your indoctrination you are surprised at all the interesting things to do and how important this role is to the success of the company. You begin to wonder just how much there is to learn. Join us for 90 minutes for a quick briefing on the basic laws affecting payroll. Learn where to find the authoritative rules to support your policies and procedures. Accelerate your learning using our organized and thoughtful delivery and determine to step into your role with confidence.

The Fair Labor Standards Act is the granddaddy of all payroll laws. Enacted in 1938, it provides basic protections from abuses like failure to pay a minimum wage and overtime pay. Then there are the child labor laws, the Walsh Healey Act, etc. More recently we were introduced to the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Now we are working to understand and comply with the Affordable Care Act. The laws keep changing. Is it any wonder that businesses are struggling to comply with this burdensome body of law and regulation? You can help. You can become the liaison who knows the law and how to comply with utmost efficiency.
