Conference Description:
The World Conference on Science and Soccer is an initiative from the International Steering Group on Science and Football and under the auspices of the World Commission of Science and Sports. This conference aims to develop the already successful thematic content included in congresses such as the World Congress of Science and Football by focusing on the subject matter on Association Football or soccer.
The conference is aimed at all individuals who have a particular interest in the scientific study and/or the practical performance of soccer players from grass roots to the elite professional level. These include academics & sports scientists, full/part-time (youth) coaches, strength and conditioning specialists, sports medics & physiotherapists, (exercise) physiologists, (club) administrators, teachers and students.
The Third World Conference on Science and Soccer will be held in May 2012 in the picturesque city centre of Ghent, Belgium, following the success and experience of the previous conference meetings held in Liverpool (2008) and Port Elizabeth (2010).
The conference program will combine plenary, invited symposium and open oral and poster sessions. Internationally leading scientists and practitioners will address the emerging new challenges in the various domains of soccer-related work. The information exchange that takes place in the open sessions will receive specific attention. Offers of formal and poster presentations are invited for the open sessions of the conference.
