Call for Papers
Middle East Student Symposium

The USG Council for the Middle East is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for the First Annual Middle East Student Symposium. This symposium aims to bring together young scholars from across the USG and beyond for a day of intellectual and creative exchange centered around issues pertaining to the Middle East, including North Africa and Central Asia. Sessions will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 5:30 p.m. and will include a catered lunch of Middle Eastern food and cultural programming.
Research papers and creative projects such as posters and artwork relating to the Middle East, North Africa or Central Asia from a historical or contemporary perspective, are welcome. Interested participants should submit a proposal as an MS Word attachment electronically to Dr. Michael B. Bishku at mbishku@aug.edu with the following subject line: Student Symposium .
Deadline for submissions is February 16th, 2010.
All submissions should also include the following:
1. Name of presenter and faculty sponsor/supervisor
2. E-mail address of faculty sponsor/supervisor
3. College/University affiliation of the presenter
4. Title of the presentation and a 200 word abstract of the research paper or creative project.
The Registration fee is $20, and will include lunch from the University Cafeteria and a catered Middle Eastern dinner. The Registration fees, in the form of a check for $20, made in favor of Georgia College and State University and including the following information:
