Conference Description:

PRDC 2011 is the seventeenth in this series of symposia started in 1989 that are devoted to dependable and fault-tolerant computing. PRDC is now recognized as the main regular event of the Pacific area that covers the many dimensions of dependability and fault tolerance, encompassing fundamental theoretical approaches, practical experimental projects, and commercial components and systems. As applications of computing systems have permeated into all aspects of daily life, the dependability of computing system has become increasingly critical. This symposium provides a forum for countries around the Pacific Rim and other areas of the world to exchange ideas for improving the dependability of computing systems.
The symposium will be held in Pasadena, California. Pasadena is the home of Jet Propulsion Laboratory where the pioneer contribution to fault-tolerant computing, the design and development of the Self-Testing and Repairing (STAR) computer, was made back in the 1960s. Pasadena is a hub for various Southern California tourist attractions and offers an array of art museums and cultural/sport events, including Huntington Library, Rose Parade, and Rose Bowl.

The best papers will be invited to submit extended versions for publication in a special issue of International Journal of Critical Computer-Based Systems (

One outstanding paper will also be selected to receive the Best Paper Award.

We look forward to seeing you at PRDC 2011 in Pasadena!
