From Theory to Practice How does business ethics matter?

The aim of the conference is to focus on research regarding the reasons for organizations to take business ethics seriously by concentrating on motivations, consequences and implications of business ethics. As well as ongoing theoretical discussions, we are particularly interested in contributions that examine how business ethics is understood, applied, and enforced in practice. Contributions are invited from different fields of business ethics research. Possible topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Consequences of ethical and unethical behaviour in and between organizations
Integration of business ethics in organizational networks, strategies, processes and practices
Measuring and/or reporting ethical activities of companies and other organizations
Ethical development of organizations and individuals - how to improve business ethics?
Contradictions between ethics in strategy and in practice
Compatibility of personal and organizational values
Ethical attitudes versus ethical behaviour in organizations
The role of cultural values in business ethics
Ethics and accounting
Environmental issues and business ethics
Communicating business ethics and ethical values
Academics and practitioners interested in responding to the need to investigate, discuss and understand how, why, when and where business ethics matters are invited to submit proposals for papers or work in progress. Papers that respond to the topics indicated or other topics related to the theme of the conference are particularly sought.

Special issue in the Electronic Journal of Business Ethics and Organization Studies ( is edited based on the conference papers. In addition, selected papers will be considered for publication in Business Ethics: A European Review.

The official language of the conference is English.

Important Dates
Proposals should be sent in Word or RTF format via an electronic form in the registration system ( no later than February 15, 2010. Participants are asked to provide a detailed abstract of their planned presentation (about 500 words) accompanied by a short biographical note (100 words) and full mailing and e-mail addresses. Notification of acceptance for presentation will be given by March 31, 2010.
