About COPHA 2018

Asia is the fastest-growing and most dynamic region in the world, but government spending on public health is low and is often not focused on those who need it most. For many in the region, personal health expenses are a major cause of poverty. Another major challenge facing Asia is disease control and prevention. One area of critical importance, but often overlooked, is the field of health informatics, which is crucial in improving data sharing in the public health arena by ensuring that doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals have access to quality medical IT and healthcare management systems. Public health challenges that will be addressed are the need for improved nursing care for the aging nations, fighting Neglected Tropical Diseases, such as Liver Fluke in Thailand and improving access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation in South Asia.

COPHA 2018 event will be held in partnership with the 2nd Asian Symposium on Health Informatics and Nursing Education (SHINE 2018). These paired events will provide a multidisciplinary platform for discussing a range of issues confronting public health around Asia and beyond for academics and researchers; students/trainees; policy-makers, administrators and managers; health promotion workers; social workers; people working in urban, rural, remote and small communities and anyone with an interest in improving the quality of public health either locally or globally.
