Conference Description:
In today’s knowledge societies, education is not limited to initial schooling and training in youth anymore. Rather, learning is now considered a lifelong process, necessary to guarantee long-term employability, flexibility and adjustment to rapidly changing workplace requirements. While the growing importance of educational activities in adulthood is undisputed, theoretical and empirical contributions on their changing relevance and relationship to employment careers are just at a starting point. Thus the conference will strive to present current international research on education and training subsequent to initial training and their relationship with the labour market from both a sociological and an economics perspective.
