Conference Description:
We invite you to be part of the International Conference on Interactive Media Art – The Unheard Avantgarde.
The field of collaborative social action is expanding and transforming the concept and practices of art. This is not a new thing. Since the turn of the 19th century, artists have been exploring and transgressing the boundaries between art and life, art and reality, life and reality. However, once named ‘avantgarde’, the postdigital field of cultural production challenges the transformative politics of the historic avantgarde, making them largely unheard (of) today.
The core purpose is to examine interactive media art in its various manifestations, and the conference is organized in connection with the re-new digital arts festival. Submissions that combine scientific research or technological development with artistic design for the purpose of extending media art’s artistic framework are particularly invited.
Session Themes incude, but are not restricted to:
The Unheard Avantgarde & Postdigital Social Action
Collaborative Practices in Re-Active Media Art
PASS: Perception, Analysis, & Synthesis of Sound
Sensible Technologies and the Posthuman Body
Ubiquitous Aesthetics in Urban Space
Creating a unified perspective that encompasses those significant and mutually supportive aspects of Art and Technology in strong teaching methodologies is a challenge. We invite proposals for sessions around the theme Framing Art + Technology that emphasize curriculum development, multi-disciplinary teaching and any other aspects of their teaching.
